In November of 2012, I came to Dallas for an introduction into the world of Dr. Guy Voyer’s ELDOA and Myofascial stretching, led by Scott Herrera at the Legacy Performance and Integrated Wellness Center. At the time, I had no idea that I was about to embark on a journey that would profoundly change my health, my career and my life.

My first two classes with Scott were an incredible physical and mental challenge. I had been through various forms of training and fitness, but I had never experienced anything as intense as this. (I am a fitness trainer and have my own business, Classically Trained Fitness and Wellness, which helps musicians cope with and heal from performance related repetitive stress injuries.)

A violinist from the age of five, and having had my own history of performance related injuries, I was frustrated by the limited resources available to musicians in pain. Most seeking treatment ended up relying on surgeons who invariably persuaded their patient that the best and quickest course of treatment would be an invasive operation. Having had the ulnar nerves in both of my arms transplanted surgically, I knew first hand that this was often the case. I had been searching for a way to provide musicians with an effective, low-risk/high-reward system of exercises that would build strength and increase flexibility while decreasing tension and pain. After the first classes with Scott, I knew I had found them.

The response from the musicians with whom I work at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music has been overwhelming! Their bodies are changing and their pain is decreasing. The awareness of their own biomechanics is exponentially greater due to the self-diagnostic nature of the exercises. In short, they are getting significantly better!

Over the course of the past eighteen months, I have traveled to Dallas to study with Scott many times. He has become an incredible mentor for me, helping me understand the details and intricacies of the ELDOA method. I cannot thank Scott and the Legacy Center enough for the valuable support and guidance throughout this journey. My own health, the health of my clients and my career are forever changed.
