Wellness News

This Weekend’s Wellness Workout Series begins at 9:00 am with a 30-minute Myo-fascial Stretching Workout (MFS). At 9:30 a 60-minute ELDOA Classic Group Workout . MFS is beneficial for every person and is an excellent compliment to the ELDOA. The more active you are, the more you need MFS.

Open Sauna runs from 10:30 to 1:30.

If you missed last weekends Wellness Series, Scott taught a combination of a FLO Session followed by one hour total body MFS. Myo-fascial Stretching is so beneficial for active people that Legacy plans on teaching 30 or 60-minute workout sessions throughout the summer.

Education is a Foundational Pillar within our Center. The Education is not limited for Student Practitioners who are enrolled in our school. Every day, with our clients, we spend a few minutes sharing information about how their body works so they can achieve the results they desire. Not one client has ever found the information to be of no use. Most of the time we spend education clients comes in their Private Sessions and during “Covid time” we expanded the education into Tutorials and brief Workshops for the clients.

In our Newsletter we have a section devoted entirely to every aspect of our educational program and we have a new feature titled “Your Body”. Here we plan to share useful tips and action steps coupled with some interesting images of the anatomy. In the month of July, Scott plans to teach a Lecture about Your Body – Beyond Sciatic Plan: the Benefits of Myo-fascial Stretching.

If you are new to the world of Sauna and would like to learn more about many of the benefits, Legacy Sport & Wellness Center plans to host a 2-hour Workshop for clients and community members twice in the month of July – July 13 and July 27. Enrollment is limited so please contact Claudia in the Business Office.

Cardiac Center News

If you are new to our community, or have not visited our Center in Dallas, we have an area in our gym dedicated to Cardiovascular Health and Training. Clients use the area for a proper warm-up to their private sessions and group workouts. On the white board in the Cardiac Center there are several different workouts clients can choose to do. Each workout targets a different part of the cardiovascular system. The Cardiac Center is used for aerobic training programs and testing, too.

Sports Performance News

Last week, Scott hosted a Camp for Professional Hockey Goaltenders. The Camp was one of our special Regen Camps that we host at the end of the professional hockey season. Prior to Covid, Cleo and Scott ran these camps for professional players each year immediately following the end of the season. These Regen Camps are specifically designed to address the needs of the players before they begin an organized Off-Season Training Program. In doing so, players are able to immediately address injuries sustained during the season or in the play offs, and to correct them before they begin their off-season training. Originally the Camp started with players for the Dallas Stars, but as the word spread, more players from different teams around the League traveled to Dallas to attend.

July 1, the Center hosts a different style of camp for professional players. This camp is a pre-Training Camp Program for NFL Players. The purpose of this camp is to fine-tune and prepare players for Summer Training Camp and the grueling 17 game season. There is no other camp like this one: very specific exercises are used on different days, which are customized for the player and his position on the team. Players build and refine training, recovery, and lifestyle habits which they carry into the regular season.

Both camps, the Legacy Regen Camp and our pre-Season Football Camp, utilize the exercises in Guy VOYER’s SomaTraining Program.

June Sports Tip:

Upon completion of your summer activities or games, allow time for several specific Myo-fascial Stretches (MFS). MFS following a workout is optimal because your body is warm and you want to normalize your tissue from the work session. If your time is limited after a workout, then do your stretches at night – TV Stretch/ELDOA.

Lifestyle & Recovery Center

The Dry Sauna is running hot!

To learn about some of the benefits of Dry Sauna and sweating, we have two Sauna Workshops scheduled -July 13 and July 27. These workshops are about two hours in length and are guided by Scott. The class size is limited. Contact Claudia in the Business Office.

Indoor and Outdoor Recovery options are available.

Legacy’s four-hour Sauna Certification Course (SomeTraining Program) is offered in Summer School. To enroll, go to eShop on the Legacy website. This is scheduled for August 9 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

Topics of discussion include the importance of sweating, what is the optimal time for a single sauna session, what is the optimal temperature to use in a Dry Sauna, how to use cold water exposure by itself, or in combination with the dry sauna, and the importance of drinking water.

As part of the Course Theory, all the participants complete the Ruffier (Pulse) Test. This simple test can be used in different aspects of a Wellness or Sports Performance Program including the length of time in a Sauna Session and exposure to cold water.

the Training Table News

the Training Table is where Wellness and Sports Performance begin!

If you’re not in the DFW area, I’m offering “meat consulting” to essentially provide this service but for wherever you’re located—I will find the farms and work with them to curate a package just for you! Eucalyptus Essential Oils – Claudia

Yes, Oils, plural.

Many people don’t know that, as with so many of the essential oils available, there are more than one variety. While the physiological characteristics may overlap, each oil has its own characteristics and uses. This is due to different monoterpene and ketone content.

Eucalyptus is a genus of more than 700 species of flowering plants (trees or shrubs). Most species are native to Australia. Eucalyptus plantations are grown in other countries because they are fast growing, have valuable timber, or can be used for pulpwood, honey production, or essential oils.

Benefits and uses of eucalyptus oil: relieves stuffy nose, clears respiratory complaints, eases sore muscle and joint pain, post-surgery pain reliever, promotes oral health, promotes scalp health and clears lice, boosts immunity, disinfects wounds and cuts.

Eucalyptus Globulus, produced from leaves, is best used in daytime and has a cooling effect on strong emotions. Like other varieties, it aids in concentration. This oil can reduce fever, which other types do not do. It may counteract homeopathy remedies.

Eucalyptus Radiata is a bit stronger and is more for evening. Also produced from leaves, it is refreshing and acts as a stimulant, helping with mental fatigue. Use with care in the presence of high blood pressure or epilepsy.

Eucalyptus Smithii is a more gentle oil and is best used with children.

Dives Oil is quite strong with a camphorous, minty fragrance. This variety can increase circulation. It can also soothe arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, and help headaches. It can encourage motivation during times of increased exhaustion.

Lastly, Eucalyptus Citriodora, which is cultivated in many countries including South Africa, is phenomenally calming and relaxing to the nervous system as well as the respiratory system.

Essential Oils are truly fascinating

Water Bar News

Water is a big deal at Legacy. In fact, water is Nature’s First Medicine.

Sixty cases of Vellamo were delivered last week. This water has a pH value of 8.3 for those who seek alkaline water. And the taste is delicious. An additional 80 cases of various Legacy waters arrived Thursday. Another Texas summer is close at hand: staying hydrated is easy with Legacy’s Water Bar.!
