Toothpaste: Is Glycerin a No-No?

You may read the labels on the packaged/canned food you buy, but have you ever read the label on your favorite toothpaste?  Most will list glycerin as an ingredient.  What does that matter?  Glycerin is even in some toothpastes advertised as ‘natural’, ‘organic’ and sold at Whole Foods-type stores and health food stores so how bad can it be?

Glycerin has been shown to lessen the body’s natural remineralization process in the mouth…meaning that there is a calcium loss over time if brushing with a toothpaste that contains glycerin.

This is a nice pro-con article that may help you decide what toothpaste to buy:  http://artistta.blogspot.com/2011/04/closer-look-at-glyerin-and-whether-its.html

Take heart!  If you choose to eliminate glycerin from your dental hygiene routine, there are products out there that are glycerin-free.  You just have to read the labels.
