Invite to Exercise & Legacy News January 31, 2024

This past month, we used the introduction of each Newsletter to discuss the Foundational Principles of our Sport & Wellness Center. Each section of the Newsletter provides information about upcoming events taking place at the Center, and how one can participate. If you aren’t local to Dallas, we hope our Newsletter serves as a way to be involved within our community from afar.

If you are new to our community or unfamiliar with all the programs our Center has to offer, we invite you to visit our website and take advantage of the resources provided. Our Center is so much more than just ELDOA, and we have pioneered a new approach to sport and wellness training.

If you are a Student-Practitioner enrolled in our School, the Education News section located at the end of the Newsletter is where you can find the most up to date information for the week. If you have any questions, you can always email Claudia directly at claudiadzelazny@gmail.com

In this months newsletter we discuss the following topics: Saturday morning group workouts for February, upcoming client exercise Tutorials and semi-private workouts. In the Wellness section, we offer some post-workout advice and the Sports Performance section updates what the athletes in our community are doing and how the SomaTraining has had an impact in their careers.. The Lifestyle and Recovery section covers outdoor and indoor recovery areas and Dry Sauna news. In Education news, we’ve updated the Course calendar for Practitioners enrolled in SomaTraining, SomaTherapy and the ELDOA Program, and scheduled our next client exercise Tutorial.

New to this week’s Newsletter is a question we pose to our community members: What is the best exercise to end a workout and begin your cool down session?

Wellness News

At our Center of Excellence, one of our Foundational Pillars is Exercise and Training.

It’s not just the exercises or the order of the exercises (your Program), but it’s how the exercises are customized to the person and their specific needs or goals, and the way we TEACH a client to do the exercises. If an individual has poor awareness about a region or specific location within their body and they are given an exercise for that location without being awareness trained, more than likely, it will be very difficult for that person to do the exercise with any level of quality by themself in their Home Program. For this reason, all the exercise instructors on our staff include awareness training and Factors of Progression within each client’s private session. And if necessary, a quick video is recorded of the client doing that drill.

Each month Legacy hosts a Client Tutorial. The topics of the Tutorial vary, but typically Scott picks subject matter that applies to the majority of the people in our community be it a wellness goal or for sports performance. The format for an exercise Tutorial is generally the same – 30 minutes in duration, one half devoted to theory, the other half of the Tutorial is devoted to practice and refinement of the technique. Scott likes to include some general anatomy so the clients can see what they are doing within their bodies and the benefits of the exercise.

February 10 at 9:00 am, Scott will present an exercise Tutorial on the Classic ELDOA: L5-S1, and the TV L5 posture. There is no charge for this Tutorial and immediately following is the ELDOA Classic Wellness Group Workout at 9:30 am.

Sports and Performance News

Week three of our post-season camp for professional football players begins.

This past weekend, the teams for this year’s Super Bowl were decided: San Francisco Forty-niners and the Kansas City Chiefs. Solomon Thomas, #94 for the New York Jets and a member of our Sports Performance community, has ties to both teams and this year’s Super Bowl game. Solomon was drafted number three overall out of Stanford University by the 49ers and played against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019-2020 Super Bowl. Solomon, Mahomes and Christian McCaffrey were all members of the 2017 draft class. The NY Jets nominated Solomon for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which will be announced during the Super Bowl.

In the link below, Solomon discusses his career best season, what’s next, and how he prepares in the off-season for next year.

Education News

NEW. Beginning in 2024, as part of the ELDOA News section, the Administrative Office in Dallas plans to post a topic of discussion for member of the ELDOA community. Today’s topic is a question…

…What is the best exercise to end a workout – in the gym, a pilates session, after a jog, a bike ride or a round of golf – and begin your cool down session? In a few lines, answer the question briefly and explain your answer.

In March, Legacy is hosting ELDOA 1&2 Combination Certification Course. Dates for Level 1is March 7 and for Level 2 March 8-10. Enrollment information is on the Legacy website this week. This course is an absolute must-do “for everyone within our community”. If you have already taken the course, you can repeat it for half price. This course is rich with information about the ELDOA and how to be well.

The SomaTraining/Therapy schedule for 2024 will be announced soon.  Courses are scheduled to begin in April. Email your course requests for 2024 to Claudia at claudiadzelazny@gmail.com

We would like to host a combination of ELDOA Level 1 (in the one-day format) combined with an Introduction to Myo-fascial Stretching in 2024.

We ask all ELDOA Practitioners – at any level -to visit the official ELDOA website – eldoavoyer.com – to make sure your contact information is accurate.

This was posted on our Instagram account and we have heard from several Student Practitioners. Thanks!

The way Legacy has our School set up in Dallas allows for Students to travel from all parts of the country for training and continuing education, while at the same time creating the opportunity to invest some of their personal time in their self-care using our Gym and Lifestyle-Recovery Center. We believe that this one-two combination can’t be beaten and we invite you to enroll in a course with us in 2024.

Client Education News

A client exercise Tutorial is scheduled for February 10 at 9:00 am. See the details in the Wellness News section above.
