Invite to Exercise & Legacy News January 20, 2024

Legacy News

The cold weather snap that arrived Sunday evening set the conditions for perfect sauna use. With the temperatures dropping below freezing we have temporarily shut down the cold plunge and outdoor shower, but we expect to have those operational as soon as temperatures climb above freezing.

Wellness News

This weeks Wellness News section is devoted to the Training Table. The Training Table is the Legacy Sport & Wellness Center’s natural pharmacy. It is where it all begins as you learn how to feed and care for your body.

We are fortunate to have Chef Corey Schiller who prepares organic, gluten, dairy and soy-free, grass-fed and wild caught meals for our School Certification Courses and clients in town for Intensives. Many of you have enjoyed his breakfasts during a Certification Course weekend.

The first weekend of 2024, items from Chef Corey’s menu during the Winter Intensive included steak, sausage, eggs, salad, sweet potato hash, carrot and Brussel sprout medley, assorted berries, cut apples and pears, avocado and salsa. On Sunday, Corey served a Ginger Shot – fresh ginger, apples, oranges blended, skins and all!

  • Ginger is a naturally occuring food that has a lot of health benefits associated with it. It is widely used as a spice and a folk medicine across the globe. Some health benefits of ginger are:
  • It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
  • Ginger can treat nausea and cough.
  • It reduces muscle pain and soreness.
  • Ginger drastically lowers blood sugars and improves heart disease risk factors.
  • It helps to treat chronic indigestion.
  • Ginger may lower cholesterol levels.
  • Ginger may improve brain function and protect against Alzheimer’s disease.
  • The active ingredient in ginger can help fight infections.

To compliment the Training Table, we have a dedicated area we call the Legacy Water Bar, in which we offer a variety of different types of local and international waters. Water is Nature’s First Medicine. Waters have different mineral profiles and different pH values. One of the most popular waters among our community members is Vellamo, a still mineral water from Finland. More on this water in the Lifestyle & Recovery Section below.

Sports and Performance News

Congratulations to Marc-Andre Fleury for moving into second place of the all-time most winning goalies in the NHL Scott first worked with Marc-Andre when he was playing with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although Marc-Andre has never played for the Dallas Stars, when he travels here to play a game he schedules time for some work at Legacy Sport & Wellness Center. Scott says he is one of the best pros he has ever worked with…the work Fleury puts into both his game and his body, his attention to detail, and the way he carries himself. In one of his visits to Dallas, he shared with Scott two things he would like to do in the remainder of his career: score a goal… and be in a fight! Marc-Andre is a TRUE BILLYGOAT.

Lifestyle & Recovery Center

The weather is absolutely perfect for the Dry Sauna and Cold Plunge.

Our Recovery Center offers both an outdoor and an indoor recovery area following your Sauna session.

If you want to learn more about the Dry Sauna, cold immersion, the benefits of a regular Sauna practice and how to use heat and cold Contrast, enroll in Legacy’s next Sauna Tutorial, February date to be announced. Enrollment is limited to 8 people. If you would like to repeat the Sauna training course, it is half price. Purchase a special rate sauna card upon completion of the Tutorial and receive the most savings for your Dry Sauna practice.

A new shipment of Sauna Oils arrived and the oils are available for purchase at the Center.

A shipment of waters from around the world is scheduled to be delivered Jan. 19th. Pick up a Legacy Six-Pack of assorted waters or, better yet, get several cases from our Store.

Vellamo started as a glacier until the earth heated enough to start melting the ice. The melt traveled into a cavern formed beneath the earth’s surface. A massive glacier above seals the cavern off from air and pollution. With a pH of 8.3, Vellamo is the most alkaline water in our Water Bar. The name is from Finnish mythology meaning goddess spirit of water, or mother of water.
