Invite to Exercise & Legacy News December 13, 2023

As 2023 is coming to a close, we have 3 Newsletters left.  In addition to the regular topics we present in the Newsletter, we want to discuss the model we have created at the Center and how our clients can benefit from the components of Legacy’s model.

The Center is built on three foundational pillars:  exercise and training, lifestyle and nutrition, and education.  Each pillar has its own section within the Newsletter.

This week, we will briefly discuss the Educational Program we offer clients who visit our Center.

In our experience, educating the clients that work with us with simple language they can understand, creates better results.   When a person understands why they need to do something, compliance is higher and the percentage of permanent change is greater.

For wellness clients, amateurs, and elite athletes, we offer tutorials, workshops, and educational programs specific to how their bodies operate. In addition to these programs, our Center is the home of SomaTraining Texas – a school for professional practitioners who want continuing education specific to four programs that we offer in our educational paradigm:  ELDOA Comprehensive, SomaTraining, SomaTherapy, and the Professional Development Series.  Each one of these programs is a small school within the School and practitioners can choose from a number of different courses within each curriculum.

The ELDOA Program is six levels in total with ELDOA 1 being a one-day course that is open to everyone including clients.  The SomaTraining Program is 15 exercise courses organized into a two-day in person practical complimented with one-day on-line session.  The SomaTherapy Program is 12 courses organized in the same two-day/one-day format.  The Professional Development Series is a combination of workshops and seminars hosted at Legacy Center with additional on-line training and homework questions and discussions.

Saturday, December 16th, Legacy hosts ELDOA Level 1:  the most frequently used ELDOA postures of the spine in a one-day format.  Enrollment is open and we invite our clients to take the workshop.

Details are listed below:

In 2024, clients, athletes, and student practitioners can expect to see more tutorials and live discussions posted on-line and in person.  The best way to know dates is to follow us on Instagram and read the Weekly Newsletter.

Sports and Performance News

In the Sports Performance and Rehabilitation Section of our Newsletter, we like to share stories about different athletes, parts of their routine, and teams who have implemented different aspect of the techniques we use at Legacy Center.

Congratulations to our very own John Sandstrom who competed in the Dallas Marathon last Sunday.  John ran 3:22.

This past weekend the New York Jets hosted the Houston Texans.  Select members of The Texans’ performance staff have completed ELDOA 1 training, and Solomon Thomas #94 Defensive Tackle for the NY Jets played a good game, adding another sack to his career best year.

Last week we spoke about Solomon’s nomination for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and when the Jets head coach, Robert Saleh was asked about what Solomon Thomas means to the NY Jets team, here is what he had to say:

“I love Solly…he stands for everything you want.  He’s an unbelievable human off the field, on the field his effort, his strain…People say he’s undersized, but he’s always knocking people back in terms of his play demeanor…he’s an incredible man.”

Wellness News

The ELDOA Exercise Program we organized at Legacy Center is a central part of each client’s exercise program, albeit for wellness or sports performance rehabilitation.

What is the ELDOA?

The ELDOA are precise postures that target a specific joint region designed to provide relief from pain and restore balance.  The human spine is a complicated and vital structure. Compression and articular blocks can cause pain, arthritis, and neurological conditions.

The Benefits of the ELDOA

The ELDOA exercises are a highly effective solution to these conditions. Designed by French Osteopath Guy VOYER, DO, the ELDOA utilize Myo-fascial Stretching to put tension around a primary lesion making it the center of “separating forces”.  The myo-fascial tension solicits a postural normalization in a specific joint resulting in numerous benefits.

As the ELDOA “creates space” there is an improvement in joint mechanics, increased blood flow, reduced pressure on the intervertebral discs, spinal disc rehydration, increased muscle tone and awareness, metabolic and hormonal balance, normalization of myo-fascial tensions, reduction in pain, better posture, and an increased sense of well-being.

What is an ELDOA Classic Workout?

The ELDOA Classic Group Workout is a 60-minute session.  This class is for everyone: all ages ranging from teenagers to senior citizens. The session includes a well-organized warm-up and cool down, and the body of the class is composed of the postures of the spine (the most beneficial ELDOA for everyone) and a few postures for either the shoulders, the hip, or pelvis.

To learn more about the benefits of the ELDOA, we invite you to attend the first two hours of the ELDOA 1 Certification Saturday morning December 16 immediately following the ELDOA Classic Group Workout (9:00 am).

Wellness Tip:  At the end of your exercise sessions and before bed, use one or two of the ELDOA postures to rebalance your body and improve your posture.  The best posture to use is ELDOA L5-S1, or what clients refer to as ‘the feet on the wall’ ELDOA.  An ELDOA exercise is typically one-minute in duration.

Lifestyle and Recovery Center

One question we are often asked:  How long should I stay in the dry sauna?

The best answer is…it depends!  It depends on a number of physiological factors and your goal…the goal of using the Sauna.

A part of our education program for both clients and practitioners is the Comprehension Course we teach on how to use the dry Sauna safely and effectively.

For the best results on using Sauna, a customized program is recommended.

The next Sauna training course is scheduled for January 5th at 4:30 pm. Click the link below to sign up.
