A veteran center iceman playing professional ice hockey hurt his back in training workouts several weeks before heading into team training camp. Just having been traded to a new team, he was highly motivated to attend his first camp with the new team. When surgery was suggested by the medical staff as one of the possible options, the center iceman said, “let me give these ELDOA exercises a chance for at least two weeks.” The back pain improved each day and although not completely gone during training camp, the center iceman was able to skate in every training camp session and game that year, not missing a single game due to back pain. To this day, almost three years later, no surgery has been necessary for his back and he still continues to play professional ice hockey.
