Dallas Restaurant Buzz: True Food

Everyone’s talking about True Food, a new healthy food concept kitchen in Preston Center East.

I guess no one cooks at home anymore because this place was packed on a Thursday night at 7 pm!  The wait was about 20-30 minutes, but there is a community table which could cut down on the time until you are served.  It was very noisy, making conversation difficult.  Some of the banquet tables are close together, so if a burly-man server is taking an order at the table next to you,  you may get a bit more of an anatomy lesson than is comfortable!

Menu items are clearly marked vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free and the idea is to serve seasonal items from local purveyors whenever possible.  I enjoyed the Harvest Chopped Salad with Grilled Steelhead Salmon.  The Grass Fed NY Steak is rumored to be excellent!  Am I dying to go back?  Not so much, but they do a brisk take-out business so it makes a perfect lunch in the office option.

Make note, as the menu stipulates:  “While we offer gluten free items, out kitchen is not completely gluten free.”  Words to the wise about cross-contamination.  (Pack your Gluten-Flam and take a chance!)
