It’s been a month or so since the last sauna Talk post… today’s series posts are not about some random conversation in the sauna this time, but one with a little more substance- “training, and the quality of the training is the most important variable in any program and it trumps brain.” Many practitioners claim that the “brain is king”, or super-segmental trumps all other function in the body. At Legacy, we do not agree with that. Being fortunate enough to have a teacher who lost and eye in a car accident while sustaining massive head injuries, loosing much of his brain function, he was able to re-learn much of what he lost. Additionally, only someone who spends time with him on a personal level would know that there was an issue as there is very little postural or movement compensation. Why? It’s a long story but part of the answer lies with the quality of training after the accident as well as the years of training before. Legacy has written about this in the past and will continue to do so in future posts. As part of the the neuro-plastic mantra, the brain has the ability to adapt, but the degree and how much has to do with many factors- complexity, one being the with the quality of training!www.legacyperformwell.com
