William Carson “Nemo” Herrera, known to many as Coach Nemo, was one of only a few coaches in Texas high school sports history to win state championships in two different sports. He won two basketball state championships in 1943 and 1945 at Lanier HS in San Antonio. In 1949, he won a baseball state championship at El Paso Bowie HS. Coach Nemo was inducted into the SAISD Athletic Hall of Fame in February of 2016.
