Wellness News
The Legacy Wellness Workout Series offered most weekends is a combination of several types of different trainings designed to improve each person’s wellness.
Last weekend’s series featured three different types of classes: General Strengthening, FLO, a series of rhythmic movement and Global Dynamic Normalization exercises, and ELDOA Classic.
Saturday, September 7th, the Wellness Workout Series features a Digestion Workout, a 30-minute workout class to improve everyone’s digestion, Myo-fascial Stretching (MFS), and ELDOA Classic. The Dry Sauna and Recovery Center will be open immediately following the group session and Claudia will be available for questions and to fill orders in the Training Table.
For optimal results, combine the Wellness Workout Series with a customized Home Program.
Several weeks ago, Scott was invited to sit down and speak about Legacy’s Center of Excellence and all that it entails. The link to that Podcast is attached below. Topics of discussion included What is ELDOA?, the benefits of using the ELDOA exercises, what is Legacy’s Center of Excellence and how did it come to be, and more.

If you are new to our community, or have not visited our Center in Dallas, we have an area in our gym dedicated to Cardiovascular Health and Training. Clients use the area for a proper warm-up to their private sessions and group workouts. On the white board in the Cardiac Center there are several different workouts clients can choose to do. Each workout targets a different part of the cardiovascular system. The Cardiac Center is used for aerobic training programs and testing, too.
Most people think of VO2 Max in the context of sports performance, but the research shows that it is a strong indicator of wellness, and the capacity to fight disease. In the Cardio section below, we provided a small chart about VO2 Max and this Fall, John Sandstrom and Scott plan to introduce a new program for regular and out of town clients in which to participate. The program includes steady state cardio training, integral training, small semi-private training sessions, a customized cardiovascular training program based upon VO2 Max testing results, and more.

The Sauna Certification Course was well received. There is so much to know about sauna and taking the course or our Client Workshop enhances the benefits received from a sauna program. Legacy’s next Client Workshop will be in September. Another Certification Course will be taught during Fall School on November 24th after the Strapping Certification Course ends.
Registration is open for Fall School: https://legacyperformwell.com/shop/somatraining-★-texas/fall-school-2024/
Even though it was hot outside, students are loving the even hotter temperatures inside and enjoying morning sauna and sauna at the end of the classroom day.
Topics of discussion include the importance of sweating, what is the optimal time for a single sauna session, what is the optimal temperature to use in a Dry Sauna, how to use cold water exposure by itself, or in combination with the dry sauna, and the importance of drinking water.
As part of the Course Theory, all the participants complete the Ruffier (Pulse) Test. This simple test can be used in different aspects of a Wellness or Sports Performance Program including the length of time in a Sauna Session and exposure to cold water.
the Training Table News
the Training Table is where Wellness and Sports Performance begin!
In our Newsletter, the Training Table is a section devoted to all topics related to nutrition, cooking, and wellbeing. In the coming months we will expand upon all these topics.
Why Ask for a Personalized Essential Oil Formula – Claudia
The most exciting part of what I do as a Clinical Aromatherapist is creating a specific combination of oils to target a specific problem a client is facing. This Formula takes into account the nature of the situation the client and I are working to change and the properties of the essential oils under consideration for that job.
Clients who have the time to spend with me should be muscle tested on the various oils that could become a part of their Formula. Because there are always more than one oil that would work on a specific issue, I want to find the best match for the client. Muscle testing can also be used to determine exactly how many drops of the oil should be used.
I always use a carrier oil with the essential oils. The oils I use are medicinal grade, which is the strongest form of an oil. Most oils you would purchase from Whole Foods or a similar store are therapeutic grade (less potent). I can make a formula in cream form or in an oil like Jojoba, Rose Hip, or St. John’s wort.
Why are essential oil Formulas so effective? Essential oils can affect the brain. The blood-brain barrier is the barrier membrane between the circulating blood and the brain that prevents certain damaging substances from reaching brain tissue and cerebrospinal fluid. Chemical constituents known as sesquiterpenes – commonly found in essential oils such as frankincense and sandalwood – are known to be able to go beyond the blood-brain barrier.
High levels of these sesquiterpenes help increase the amount of oxygen in the limbic system of the brain, particularly around the pineal and pituitary glands. This leads to an increase in secretions of antibodies, endorphins, and neurotransmitters.
Also present in the limbic system of the brain is a gland called the amygdala. In 1989, it was discovered that the amygdala plays a major role in the storing and releasing of emotional trauma. The only way to stimulate this gland is with fragrance or the sense of smell. Therefore, essential oils can be a powerful key to help unlock and release emotional trauma.

Water is a big deal at Legacy. In fact, water is Nature’s First Medicine. One hundred cases of water are on the way.
Buy water in bulk at the old pricing. Prices will increase due to shipping costs doubling. We are working on a solution. One idea is a Water Club for those who buy in bulk. We have several clients who take advantage of this service. Once details are fleshed out, we will invite you to participate.
