To change the shape of the muscle I need strengthening or “reinforcement exercises”, but for professional hockey players, who typically have large and very dense muscle tissue in the pelvic trochanter region that is not the goal in an offseason program. Barring major injury or surgery, the goal of the hockey player at first is to create more space in the joint which in turn accomplishes several things. Once there is space, strengthening can be added to the program.
