When you want to stabilize you need a fixed point. If you don’t have a fixed point you have the potential for unnecessary compensation. For this reason when teaching clients how to do a proper Myofascial Stretch a fixed point needs to be created with the joint above and below the muscle you want to stretch and the client needs to stable-fixed in order to maximize the effect of the exercise. If the client cannot maintain a fixed posture the exercise-Myofascial Stretch needs to be adapted.
