SomaPractitioner Anatomy Tip: Fascia’s Role in Structure and Protection

By February 15, 2013December 9th, 2014Daily Posts/Tips

As discussed in previous posts regarding the numerous functions of fascia, the fascia plays a role in protection and in forming structure or framework. This is evident in the Pericardium Fascia where this fascia surrounds the heart, confining it to its position in the mediastinum simultaneously providing protection while allowing freedom for moments and varying contraction tempos. Note- when a problem exists in the pericardium it can directly impact the function of the heart hence the statement, “structure dictates function.”
