In 2006, the Journal of Medicinal Food wrote of the benefits of sesame oil for diabetics with high blood pressure. The research found that the 40 people directed to cook with sesame oil for 45 days had a remarkable decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. “When oil substitution was withdrawn, blood pressure values rose again.” These same patients also experienced significant decreases in weight, body mass, index, and waist and hip girth as well a levels of blood sugar, triglycerides, cholesterol and LDL cholesterol while cooking with sesame oil.
