Myofascial Stretching News: More “length-tension”- (Part 1)

By March 18, 2013December 9th, 2014Daily Posts/Tips

“Muscles are stupid pieces of meat”- that is a popular quote heard in MFS seminars!

It translates to simply mean that “muscles will do what they are told” and if they are continually held in a shortened range of motion, then over time they will become shorter. To expand this and why MFS is a key exercise modality… the fascia that surrounds given structures has a memory and if a “shorten position” has been the norm for a long period of time, “chronic”, then the tissue will want to return “to what it knows” until a new level of plasticity has been restored. The way to do this is with MFS, changing the shape of the fascia that envelopes the muscle-structure thus affecting its shape.
