The lumbar
The lumbar spine in comparison to the other spinal regions has the widest and tallest vertebral bodies. Obviously, this is for stability and weight-bearing purposes. With the size and stability comes less range of motion in the lumbar spine as compared to the other regions, with the L5-S1 vertebral segment having just 1 degree of rotation.
Additionally, L5-S1 is the last vertebral segment to have a disc- “shock absorber” hence roughly 90 percent of spinal problems occur at this level.
This is why we say at the Legacy Sport & Wellness Center, “ELDOA L5-S1” is like magic!
