The goals of an athlete training for sport or competition are not the same as exercising to be well. Legacy’s sport training program is for athletes and very active individuals who strive to perform at the highest level. With every sport, there are injuries and in competitive athletics there is no time to lose. As a conditioning specialist with advanced training in corrective exercise and performance rehabilitation, Scott Herrera has worked with the most difficult of orthopedic cases. For these cases, he uses Legacy’s innovative approach in conjunction with the medical team to maximize time and get results. Athletes who consult with the Center receive comprehensive programs custom-designed to address their goals using many of our sport specific exercises.
Professional sports damage the body. The repetitive stress of games, playing through injuries, and training sessions combined with the number of games played each week and the air travel, ages the body faster, increasing the potential for injury each year, but players now have an option to counter these effects.
The REGEN Camps organized by Legacy Sport & Wellness Center in Dallas are designed to help players balance the effects of competing in professional sports.
To do this, we use a select group of specific exercises and exercise programming to re-train muscle and connective tissues that have been damaged from trauma – surgery or playing injury, or compensating for a lack of use – and re-organize it into healthy, well-organized, functional tissue. This builds a base for each player, a base that is needed for global workout programs later in the summer.
Each group session is 90 minutes in length with the goal of each workout being different and each week building on the week before.
Camp sessions are organized in 1 and 2 week, multi-day sessions with an optional water therapy day.
The exercises used in the REGEN camp can be used in combination with a personally designed Home Program* to compliment your summer training program as well as during the competitive season, making these tools useful year around.
