Fluoride Causes Hypothyroidism Leading to Depression, Weight Gain

A recent United Kingdom study includes the “largest population ever studied in regard to adverse effects of elevated fluoride exposure.”

Published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, scientists found that fluoride may be increasing the risk for hypothyroidism, or an under active thyroid, a condition in which the thyroid gland fails to produce enough hormones, resulting in symptoms such as fatigue, obesity and depression.

Hypothyroidism is a cause for concern for women, as there are 15 times more likely than men to develop the condition.

At Legacy Sport & Wellness Center, we stock artesian waters from France, Croatia, and Italy.  Fluorinated city water is a huge source of fluoride in the lives of most people.  As of May 2000, 42 of the 50 largest U.S. cities had water fluoridation.  We also carry toothpaste without fluoride for safe, dental health.
