Legacy News: the “Achilles Tendon” Does Not Exist

In tensegrity biomechanics the achilles tendon does not exist. It is the tendon for a group of tissues including the gastroc and the soleus muscles. There is an attachment to the calcaneous (heel) and a continuation with the plantar aponeurosis. All of these tissue structures including the navicular, cuboid bones, and the 2nd cuniform as well as both the macro and micro-movements of the ankle need to be evaluated and addressed accordingly for a well-rounded rehab or performance program.
